Given this strong environmental commitment, Park Lane partnered with SMARTech Heating & Cooling to identify and implement further opportunities to improve Energy efficiency in the running of their premises and operations.
SMARTech Heating & Cooling’s recommendations have enabled Park Lane Press to embark upon a programme to achieve a 44% reduction in their total energy consumption with a two year payback period and a 66.3 tonne reduction in carbon emissions. The opportunities identified and the application savings included:
- Baseload reduction – 30%
- LED lighting upgrade – 76%
- Evaporative cooling – 90%
- Air-conditioning energy savers – 25%
How We Helped
SMARTech Heating & Cooling installed Eniscope energy monitoring system at Park Lane Press’s site in Wiltshire to generate minute by minute, real time analytics on energy usage and quality.
Our in-house ESOS approved assessors also carried out an in-depth audit of the site. Combining the analytics from the energy monitoring with the data from the audits, we were able to understand HOW, WHEN and WHERE energy was being used and most importantly wasted.
SMARTech Heating & Cooling consultants used the data collected to produce an energy reduction plan for Park Lane Press. This plan identified opportunities to reduce energy consumption by 44% at the site with a two year payback on investment, reducing carbon emissions by 66.3 tonnes per year.
Phase 1 Implementation
With the energy reduction plan in place, Park Lane Press partnered with SMARTech Heating & Cooling to implement the plan. Phase 1 saw the installation of a LED lighting upgrade. The building layout and the range of activities undertaken demanded different coloured light output in different areas. The new lighting solution involved retrofitting the current fittings to LED tubes, installing 600×600 LED panels, flood lights and integrating PIR sensor controls.
Post Project Results
Having completed the installation, SMARTech Heating & Cooling re-installed monitoring equipment to assess post project electric consumption to quantify the energy savings attributable to the lighting installation. We carried out a before and after comparison which revealed a 31.5% overall energy saving for the site.
These results exceeded expectations with the original plan anticipating 27.5% overall energy saving being attributable to new lighting.
SMARTech Heating & Cooling now anticipate that the overall savings will be nearer 50% rather than the 44% originally identified once all the solutions have been implemented.
